Several issues concerning 4 Antrim’s Waste Management system have been brought to O’Shanter’s attention and will be addressed in the coming months. Garbage should still be deposited in the chutes, while recyclable materials should be brought to the recycling bins located in the visitor’s parking area.

Tenants are given in-suite reusable recycling bags that will make recycling even easier. These bags can be used for storing recyclable materials until tenants choose to bring them out for disposal.

O’Shanter constructed a fence blocking view of the waste area to reduce illegal dumping. Along with new security cameras and “No Dumping” signs, this fence should discourage illegal dumping by blocking the view of the garbage area from the street. If tenants do see anyone from off the property dumping their garbage, they are encouraged to let building staff now whenever possible.

Because Antrim residents have been so enthusiastic with recycling, the property will also be provided another recycling bin to increase capacity. However, tenants must be reminded that cardboard boxes should always be broken down flat in order to avoid using excess space.

There are recycling bins in the laundry and mail rooms. We ask that these bins be used only for recycled goods from these rooms, and not as a place to deposit recycled goods from tenants’ suites. These bins will decrease our garbage output by ensuring that all junk mail goes into the recycling stream, as well as any cardboard boxes used for laundry detergent etc….
